ShiftVIEW:
The ShiftVIEW is a solid-state electronic transmission shift pattern decoder that will display the gear that the transmission is in on a seven-segment LED display. The unit is reverse-power input protected, as well as being completely optically isolated from the PCM to transmission signals. This way, there is no feedback from the ShiftVIEW to your transmission or PCM. The ShiftVIEW draws a maximum of about 110mA at 13.8VDC from your car’s electrical system. There is an integrated .5a fuse built into the PCB. Although it is not necessary, you can install an in-line fuse externally on the power wire. The black plastic box is made from fire-retardant ABS plastic, and has both screw-mount and ‘zip-tie’ mount tabs.  (Installation guide HERE)

The 7-segment display can be custom user-installed into just about anywhere. I altered the DIC in my 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix to house the ShiftVIEW in place of the 'door ajar' indicators. The display board itself measures approximately 1" square by 5/8" deep.
